Highschool of the Dead (HOTD) is a Japanese manga series written by Daisuke Sato and illustrated by Shoji Sato. It was first serialized in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Age magazine from 2006 to 2013, spanning 7 volumes in total.

The story follows a group of high school students and their classmates as they try to survive a sudden outbreak of a mysterious virus that turns people into zombie-like creatures. As they navigate through the danger-filled streets of their city, they also face internal struggles and conflicts as they try to come to terms with the new reality of their world.

The manga is known for its explicit violence, gore, and sexual themes, which has led to its controversial reputation. However, it also gained popularity for its unique blend of horror, action, and character development.

In addition to the manga, Highschool of the Dead was adapted into a 12-episode anime series in 2010 and also had a single-volume spin-off titled "Highschool of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead" in 2011.
